What documents are required for verification of an Aviation Reference Number?

Each entity that is included on the application forms must provide some documentation that shows that they have an Aviation Reference Number (ARN). In short we need verification of the ARNs for:

  • Nominated Chief Remote Pilot
  • Nominated Maintenance Controller
  • Chief Executive Officer / Managing Director
  • Company or Association if the applicant is either of those

Acceptance forms of documentation for ARNs are any CASA issued licence, permission, authority or notice which shows the person or corporation’s name and ARN.

The quickest way to obtain an ARN is via the my.CASA portal. If you don’t already have an account on the portal you will need to create one. Once you have access to the portal you can apply for an ARN. Will will need passport, driver licence or birth certificate details to apply for one for a person or the ABN for an organisation ARN. Application s using the portal are processed in near real time. You will recieve an email notification within a minute or so of applying online.

For foreign individuals who are not currently in Australia and foreign registered companies need to apply using CASA Form 1162 (for an individual) or Form 1170 for an organisation.
