Uncrewed Approvals is committed to operating in a socially responsible manner. Drones affect people who never chose to have them overhead — their privacy, their quiet, their sense of safety — and we take that seriously every time we fly. We have adopted the AAUS Code of Conduct, and this statement sets out how we put it into practice.
We don’t operate our own drones often. But whether we fly once a year or every week, the standard we hold ourselves to doesn’t change.
We plan every flight around safety and minimal impact. That means flying at appropriate altitudes and distances, staying mindful of noise and visibility, and adjusting our plans whenever safety or community comfort could be improved. If a task can be done with less intrusion, that’s how we’ll do it.
We collect only the information we need — whether that’s visual data from a drone or your contact details. We don’t film people or private property unless it’s genuinely necessary for the task, and we don’t record audio. Information is stored securely, used responsibly, and never kept or shared longer than there’s good reason to. This mirrors our published Privacy Policy, which sets out in full how we collect, use, manage and protect personal information.
You should never have to wonder who’s flying overhead or why. When we operate, we’re clearly identifiable on site with company branding, and if you ask what we’re doing, we’ll explain it in plain language — what we’re doing, why, and when — not aviation jargon.
Where it makes sense, we let nearby residents and landholders know about upcoming work before we start. If you have questions or concerns, we’ll listen and respond respectfully and promptly. We’d always rather have a conversation than leave someone feeling surprised or ignored.
We consider our impact on local wildlife and the environment, and we respect culturally significant places and the connections of Traditional Owners to Country.
Operating responsibly isn’t only something we ask of ourselves. As a delegate of CASA, most of our work is assessing and certifying other operators’ drone operations — deciding whether they’re competent and safe enough to hold a Remote Operator Certificate. The standard of responsibility set out above is the same one we apply from the regulator’s side of the desk: we hold ourselves to exactly what we expect of everyone else.
