About Uncrewed Approvals

Uncrewed Approvals is an Australian RPAS regulatory and training organisation supporting professional drone operators across the country.

We specialise in regulatory approvals, operational capability development, and structured training for operators who are serious about building safe, scalable drone operations.

In our role as a CASA ReOC Delegate, we have supported thousands of operators through the approvals process. We have issued more than half of the Remote Operator Certificates currently on issue in Australia and continue to work closely with operators across all sectors of the industry.

We are also proud to be recognised as an AAUS Accredited Industry Leader and AAUS Learning Partner, reflecting our commitment to raising standards across the sector.

What We Do

We help operators move beyond basic operations and build real capability.

Regulatory Approvals

We support and deliver a wide range of CASA approvals, including:

  • Remote Operator Certificates (ReOC)
  • ReOC variations and amendments
  • EVLOS Class 1 and Class 2 operations
  • Operations over or near people (OONP)
  • Shielded operations above 400 ft
  • Aerodrome and controlled airspace operations
  • BVLOS and remote operations

Our approach is practical and structured. We develop procedures in plain English that are designed to be used in real operations—not just accepted on paper.

Professional Development and Training

Through our learning platform, we provide targeted training designed for real-world operations.

Our courses focus on building operational capability in areas such as:

  • EVLOS operations
  • Night operations
  • Airspace and aerodrome procedures
  • Safety performance and risk management
  • Operational planning and job safety assessments
  • Industry-specific operations (agriculture, inspection, survey, and more)

Training is designed to go beyond theory, helping operators understand how to apply requirements in practice.

Operational Capability and Safety Systems

We support operators to build structured, repeatable, and auditable operations.

This includes:

  • Operations manuals and procedures
  • Risk management frameworks and risk registers
  • Safety performance monitoring using structured models such as the Due Diligence Index (DDI)
  • Support for advanced operational approvals and scaling operations

Our focus is on helping operators demonstrate capability—not just compliance.

Our Role in the Industry

Uncrewed Approvals is actively involved in the ongoing development of the Australian drone industry.

Through engagement with CASA and the Australian Association for Uncrewed Systems (AAUS), we contribute practical, experience-based insights on how regulation can evolve to better support safe and scalable operations.

We advocate for a shift towards risk-based regulation—where operators who can demonstrate capability are enabled to operate more efficiently and at greater scale.

Our Approach

We believe that operational freedom is earned through structured capability and accountable governance.

Our work is built on three principles:

  • Clarity — Plain English guidance that can be applied in real operations
  • Structure — Systems and processes that support repeatable, safe operations
  • Capability — Developing operators who can plan, manage, and execute complex operations with confidence

Who We Work With

We support a wide range of operators, including:

  • Individual commercial drone pilots
  • Small to medium RPAS operators
  • Enterprise organisations integrating drone operations
  • Operators working in agriculture, infrastructure, mining, surveying, and inspection

Whether you are starting out or scaling advanced operations, we provide the structure and support to move forward with confidence.

Shaping the Future of RPAS Operations

The drone industry is evolving rapidly.

Operators who succeed will be those who can demonstrate capability, manage risk effectively, and operate within structured systems.

Uncrewed Approvals exists to support that transition.

Proof of Capability

Our role in the industry is not theoretical. It is built on direct involvement, scale, and consistent delivery over time.

Regulatory Delivery at Scale

  • Issued more than half of all Remote Operator Certificates (ReOCs) currently on issue in Australia
  • Reached the milestone of issuing our 2000th ReOC on behalf of CASA
  • Typical ReOC issue time of under two weeks from application (dependent on applicant response time)

Trusted by Operators Across the Industry

  • Supported thousands of operators across agriculture, infrastructure, mining, survey, and inspection
  • Procedures and operational frameworks accepted by CASA dozens of times across a wide range of approval types
  • Operations manuals used by over 1,200 operators as the foundation of their systems

Advanced Operational Capability

  • Delivered approvals across a broad capability spectrum, including:
    • EVLOS Class 1 and Class 2 operations
    • Operations over or near people (OONP)
    • Shielded operations above 400 ft
    • Aerodrome and controlled airspace operations
    • BVLOS and remote operations
  • Proven experience supporting operators to move from basic operations to complex, scalable operations

Industry Recognition

  • First organisation to achieve AAUS Accredited Industry Leader status
  • Recognised as an AAUS Learning Partner for professional development and training delivery

Systems That Work in Practice

  • Developed plain English operational procedures designed for real-world use—not just regulatory acceptance
  • Built structured safety and performance frameworks, including:
    • Risk registers aligned to operational reality
    • Safety performance monitoring using the Due Diligence Index (DDI)
    • Scalable systems suitable for both small operators and enterprise environments

Active Contribution to Industry Development

  • Ongoing engagement with CASA and AAUS on regulatory evolution
  • Development of industry proposals addressing real operational pain points, including:
    • Deputy Chief Remote Pilot model
    • Risk-based expansion of operational approvals (EVLOS, Shielded, BVLOS)
    • Proportional regulation for Micro RPA under ReOC

What This Means for Operators

Working with Uncrewed Approvals means working with an organisation that:

  • Understands how approvals are assessed—because we issue them
  • Builds systems that stand up to regulatory scrutiny
  • Focuses on operational capability, not just compliance
  • Has a proven track record across the full lifecycle of RPAS operations
